Biographies - August

what a whole wide world of people. and some of them decided to share their story.

Anne Frank by . . Anne Frank

Forced into hiding in Nazi Germany, this is the diary of a teenager and her experiences

Race Across Alaska (First woman to win the Ididirod) - Libby Riddle
Racing across the cold, barren, unforgiving land for up to 2000 miles. Rarely sleeping, drinking seal oil for fats and energy (and she LIKES it, especially in a Popsicle form) Facing Mooses, Wolves, 50 below with 50mph winds, sometimes with no one around to rescue you if needed. This book read like and adventure novel, a page turner for me, and Libby has a funny sense of humor. another cool thing about this book is it is half Libby's diary, and half Ididarod and Alaska facts. Which are just as cool

Garlic and Sapphires - Ruth Reichl

Ruth was hired by the New York Times, putting her in one of the most acknowledged food critics in the US. The downside of that is, now all the restaurants have a price on her head, anyone who warns of her coming gets a hefty bonus. so she goes undercover, and gives reviews as her undercover 'everyday' person, and her 'critic' persona. she also starts reviewing restaurants that are not on the HOT list. She is funny, witty, intelligent and human. she gets flustered, confused and in the end really discovers a lot about her self as well. very enjoyable AND each chapter includes a recipe
