The Help - Kathryn Stockett

This is a guest blog review from C. Caldwell

I just finished reading one of my new favorite books. It is call The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This is her first novel. It is set in Jackson, Miss. during the early 1960's. A white woman, Skeeter, wants to be a journalist when she arrives home from college. She finds her dearly beloved "maid" is gone and no one will tell her where she is. In trying to discover what happened to her maid, she becomes involved with two African/American maids and together they decide to tell the stories of "the hired black help" in Jackson, Miss. I felt it was well written and I really enjoyed it. However, the ending was a bit predictable , but I would recommend the book. There is one part where a naked white man is trying to break into a home but other than that there is no profanity or sexuality. Hope you enjoy!
